POLICY WIRE — Port of Ness, Scotland — A major search and rescue operation is currently underway off the coast of the Isle of Lewis following the disappearance of a fishing vessel that failed to reach port on Tuesday night.

Police Scotland confirmed they were notified of the incident at 11.35pm on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The vessel, which was carrying three men, went missing near the Port of Ness.

Authorities have confirmed that the body of one man has been recovered from the water. Formal identification of the deceased has not yet been completed.

Emergency teams remain on the scene as the search continues for the two remaining individuals who are still unaccounted for. A spokesperson for Police Scotland stated that emergency services are in attendance following the report of the missing boat and the three men who were on board.
