Polish Authorities Investigate Russian Gerbera-2 Drone Recovered from Baltic Coast
Polish military police are investigating a Russian Gerbera-2 combat drone discovered on a Baltic Sea beach. The device was found carrying a live warhead.
POLICY WIRE — Warsaw, Poland — Polish military authorities have launched an investigation into a suspected Russian combat drone discovered along the nation’s Baltic coastline. The device, identified as a Gerbera-2 model, was recovered near the beach in Rusinowo, situated close to the town of Jarosławiec.
Military prosecutor Bartosz Okonewski confirmed to reporters that the recovered aircraft was equipped with a fragmentation high-explosive warhead and a functional detonator. The discovery was initially reported by a passerby, prompting a rapid response from military sappers and specialized security services to secure the site.
While initial reports from some officials suggested the fragments might have originated from an air defense training device, the prosecutor’s office has officially classified the object as a Russian combat drone. The investigation into how the device arrived on the shore and its intended purpose remains ongoing.
