DIY Retailers Launch Black Friday Sales Weeks Early Amid Slowing Home Improvement Spending
Lowe’s and Home Depot kick off early Black Friday deals as home improvement spending slows, with Cyber Week discounts expected to hit record levels.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — The nation’s top home improvement retailers are rolling out Black Friday promotions weeks ahead of schedule, offering shoppers early access to significant discounts.
Lowe’s will begin its four-week Black Friday event on October 29, featuring reduced prices across tools, holiday decorations, appliances, and outdoor power equipment. Similarly, Home Depot will launch its early deals on November 4, with savings available on tools, appliances, outdoor living products, lighting, and paint.
Both stores will remain closed on Thanksgiving Day and still hold their traditional Black Friday sales. This shift comes as home improvement spending has seen a slight decline, according to Harvard University’s Leading Indicator of Remodeling Activity, which noted that average homeowner spending dropped from $520 in the first quarter to $517 in the second. Experts warn that this trend could signal slower growth for DIY retailers unless housing market activity picks up.
