Selma Blair Faces Federal Charges After Alleged Airplane Incident
Selma Blair charged after biting flight attendant mid-flight. History of biting incidents revealed in memoir.
POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — Selma Blair, known for her role in Legally Blonde, is now facing federal charges after an alleged incident on a flight from Los Angeles to New York. The 54-year-old actress reportedly bit a flight attendant and later kicked a police officer and a nurse, according to the Associated Press.
Blair, who recently announced she is “relapse free” from multiple sclerosis, was arrested following the event. She has pleaded not guilty to two state assault charges involving the officer and nurse. In addition, she faces federal charges related to assaults within U.S. maritime and territorial jurisdiction.
Her attorney, Shawn Barnes, claims the incident occurred due to a medical emergency caused by missed medication doses. Blair has previously discussed her tendency to bite people in her 2022 memoir, Mean Baby: A Memoir of Growing Up. She described feeling overwhelmed in social situations, leading to impulsive actions such as biting Seth MacFarlane, Sienna Miller, and even Kate Moss, as reported by Page Six.
