Among the standout creations was a banana cake wig, an almond sponge resembling angel wings, and a rum fruit carrot cake fashioned into a hat. Political economy student Moyin also impressed with a top hat bake, though it fell during the judging. Despite this mishap, judge Paul Hollywood praised the cake as a great cake, while Nigella Lawson called it sensational. Marketing graduate Clara was named star baker, while Shannon, a project planner and scheduler, became the second contestant to be eliminated.
Shannon, 29, from Gloucestershire, expressed deep emotion after her elimination, reflecting on how the experience helped her embrace her true self. She admitted she had sensed her departure was imminent after the technical challenge and described her lemon drizzle loaf as having a strange aftertaste. Despite the disappointment, she was proud of Clara’s success and found comfort in Nigella Lawson’s heartfelt praise. Shannon said she would return to the tent in a heartbeat if given the chance.
