POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — A collection of rare items from the personal archive of legendary filmmaker Stanley Kubrick will be auctioned next year, including a famous prop from his 1980 horror classic, The Shining.
The auction, taking place at Bonhams, will feature an axe used by Jack Nicholson in the film’s infamous “Here’s Johnny!” scene. The item is expected to sell for between £30,000 and £50,000.

Kubrick, known for groundbreaking films such as 2001: A Space Odyssey and A Clockwork Orange, left behind a vast collection of artifacts that will be made available to collectors for the first time. Among the highlights are the Star Child prop from 2001: A Space Odyssey, estimated to reach £600,000 to £800,000, and several annotated scripts from his most celebrated works.
Other notable items include the blue dresses worn by the Grady sisters in The Shining, a clapperboard from the set, and a director’s chair. A public exhibition will run from January 18 to February 3 at Bonhams New Bond Street in London, with the auction scheduled for February 3, and an online sale ending on February 4.
