Born to William Archer, who passed away in 1956 at the age of 64 when Jeffrey was young, the author earlier in his life provided contradictory accounts to journalists regarding his father’s nonexistent military background, whereas his father was actually a bigamist, fraudster, and conman who assumed the identity of a deceased war medal recipient.
Lord Archer is survived by his wife, the prominent scientist Dame Mary, who is 81 years old, alongside their sons.
