The lawsuit states that Garbowski contacted Southern Hills Hospital to obtain her son’s medical records as part of a Social Security application. A staff member allegedly told her that the records could not be released because they were for a ‘deceased patient.’ She claims she suffered extreme grief during the time she believed her son had passed away and required medication to manage her anxiety. The hospital later acknowledged the error and apologized, but Garbowski is seeking $15,000 in damages plus additional compensation for the harm caused.
