Guyger was convicted of murder in the 2018 killing of 26-year-old Botham Jean, an accountant from St. Lucia, who was eating ice cream when she entered his home and shot him. She faced up to life in prison or as little as two years. The board cited her completed prison programs and lack of violent history in its decision.
