POLICY WIRE — Dublin, United States — An elderly couple has been charged with the first-degree murder of Jonathan McKinsey, a 40-year-old director of engineering for New York Times Games, after he was found dead at the Dublin Sports Grounds.

Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen, both 77 years old, were arrested near the scene following the incident, which occurred just after 3 p.m. on September 26. The couple, who are McKinsey’s father-in-law and mother-in-law, have been booked into Santa Rita Jail, according to Dublin police.

Court documents reveal a complex history of alleged abuse between McKinsey and his wife, Candice Jang. McKinsey, who identified as a transgender man, had previously filed for a restraining order, accusing Jang and her family of transphobic behavior. Jang, in turn, claimed McKinsey had physically abused their children, including leaving a handprint-shaped bruise on one of their sons’ faces.
