An unsealed affidavit details that Garcés Pérez allegedly struck an ICE agent with his car’s side-view mirror and then led agents on a high-speed chase through residential and commercial areas. One officer, identified as L.G., shot him in the back through the rear window of his vehicle, while another officer, D.F., turned off his body camera during the pursuit. The Department of Justice has since filed assault charges against Garcés Pérez, despite his claim that he was trying to move his car to allow his wife to retrieve it.
