Nelson’s father, Justin Nelson, a 22-year Navy veteran, traveled from Minnesota to support his son following the break-in. The family has since launched an online fundraising campaign, which has already raised over $20,000 to replace what was stolen. The USS Abraham Lincoln was relieved of duty in late August by the USS George Washington.
