Simon Peter Carman, 45, was arrested at a Bangkok airport on June 26 as he attempted to return to Australia. He is accused of murdering the teenager, concealing her body, and engaging in indecent acts with a minor aged between 15 and 18.

During a court appearance on Friday, Carman denied all charges, claiming self-defense and a mistaken belief about the victim’s age. The court rejected his bail request, citing concerns over flight risk. A new hearing is scheduled for October 12.
