POLICY WIRE — New York, United States — Several supporting acts have pulled out of Ed Sheeran’s tour following the removal of rapper Macklemore due to pro-Palestinian remarks made during a performance in New Jersey.
On Tuesday, Aaron Rowe, Beoga, Finneas, and Danish band Lukas Graham announced their withdrawal from Sheeran’s tour on Instagram. Rowe and Lukas Graham were set to replace Macklemore on the remaining U.S. dates, while Beoga had been performing several songs with Sheeran, including tracks co-written by the Irish folk band. Finneas, known for his work with Billie Eilish, was scheduled to join the tour in South America later this year.

Macklemore’s removal came after multiple U.S. venues reportedly refused to allow him to perform as an opening act, influenced by Robert Kraft, owner of the New England Patriots. Kraft stated that the decision was based on Macklemore’s recent comments and a history of antisemitic rhetoric. In response, several artists expressed their support for Macklemore, citing their countries’ histories and calling for freedom of expression.
