The incident, which led to a brief shutdown, occurred when a delegation from the Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Swaminarayan Sanstha (BAPS) requested limited interaction with women. The Eiffel Tower’s operating company, SETE, admitted the conditions were inappropriate and should not have been accepted.

BAPS issued an apology, stating they had no intention of causing harm or disruption. Meanwhile, Eiffel Tower employees condemned the instructions that led to their marginalization during the visit, describing the experience as shocking and unjust.
