Based on interviews with over a dozen ex-staffers and elected officials, plus internal text messages and records, the story details multiple instances where Fetterman allegedly declined scheduled obligations—including a September meeting with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia staff concerning Medicaid cuts.
In one cited exchange, after a staffer explained the hospital team’s concern about funding reductions, Fetterman replied, ‘Well, I’m not.’ He later characterized that message as a ‘dumb joke’ and apologized, confirming he had met with hospital officials both virtually and in person and reaffirming his support.
