POLICY WIRE — Manchester, UK — Six members of the Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have been fired following an internal probe into racial discrimination directed at a colleague.

The dismissals follow a misconduct panel’s determination that the officers’ actions constituted gross misconduct.

The investigation centered on the treatment of a fellow officer of African heritage, identified as Officer Y, within the Bury district.

Evidence presented during the proceedings revealed that Officer Y was targeted with racist behavior in December, which included mockery of her skin color, hair, and accent.

In total, the panel found that six serving officers and two former officers were guilty of gross misconduct.

Additionally, a ninth officer was found to have committed misconduct as part of the same case.
