Mia Perry Bowick Unveils Unseen Aspects of Matthew Perry’s Life in Netflix’s New Docuseries

POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Netflix has revealed plans for a comprehensive three-part documentary series about the life of the late actor Matthew Perry, known for his role in the sitcom Friends.

Titled The One About Matthew Perry, this series promises to be the first thorough exploration of Perry’s life, career, and his battles with addiction.

The documentary will include exclusive insights from Perry’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, along with unseen footage from the family’s private collection. It will also feature interviews with his former colleagues and close friends, offering new perspectives on his personal challenges.

Bowick expressed her readiness to share intimate memories of her brother, following his passing in October 2023 at the age of 54. She aims to portray him as a complex individual, beyond his famous role and his struggles with addiction.

Directed by Emmy-winning director Mary Robertson, the series seeks to present the full spectrum of Perry’s life, from his comedic talents to his courageous openness about addiction.

The One About Matthew Perry is scheduled to debut on Netflix on October 27, just a day before the third anniversary of Perry’s death.

Perry’s death was attributed to an accidental overdose from ketamine, as confirmed by an autopsy.

In a poignant tribute, the Matthew Perry House, a foundation dedicated to supporting those battling addiction, shared a message from Perry’s mother, Suzanne Morrison, on what would have been his 57th birthday.
