POLICY WIRE — City, Country — Captain Damon Sacco and his crew have reportedly caught a 1260-pound Atlantic blue marlin, believed to be a record-breaking achievement for the East Coast. The monumental catch was made during a deep-sea fishing expedition.
“People fish their entire lives and never come close to a catch like this, hats off to Captain Damon Sacco and the crew on the catch of a lifetime,” an unidentified source said.
The previous East Coast record for an Atlantic blue marlin stood at 1218 pounds, caught in 1978 by angler Alfred Grace. If verified, Sacco’s catch will set a new benchmark for the region.
Atlantic blue marlins are known for their size and strength, often weighing over 1000 pounds. They are a prized target for sport fishermen due to their challenging nature and the thrill of the catch.
Marine conservationists note the importance of sustainable fishing practices to ensure the preservation of such species. The International Game Fish Association (IGFA) is expected to verify the catch in the coming weeks.
