POLICY WIRE — Niamey, Niger — Kevin Rideout, a US missionary who was kidnapped outside his home in Niger’s capital in October, has been released and is now in the custody of US officials, according to a statement from a Christian group.

Rideout, who was abducted on October 10, has been reunited with representatives from the US Embassy. The circumstances of his release and the identity of his captors have not been disclosed.

“We are relieved to confirm that Kevin Rideout has been released and is now with US officials,” said a spokesperson for the Christian organization, which requested anonymity for security reasons.
