Edmund King, president of the AA motoring group, highlighted the issue, stating, “The combination of high temperatures and the already fragile state of UK roads is creating a perfect storm for potholes. Motorists are bearing the brunt of this, with significant costs to repair damage caused by these road imperfections.”

The UK has been experiencing unusually high temperatures, a trend that has been linked to climate change. The Met Office reported that the country has seen record-breaking heat this summer, with temperatures surpassing 40°C in some regions.
