POLICY WIRE — Hong Kong — Hong Kong has recorded its highest temperature of the year, reaching 36 degrees Celsius (96.8 Fahrenheit) on Sunday afternoon, attributed to the influence of Severe Typhoon Dolphin.

According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the subsiding air associated with Typhoon Dolphin resulted in unusually hot weather across Guangdong province. By 1pm, the temperature at the Observatory reached 36 degrees Celsius, surpassing previous records for the year.

The extreme heat has prompted local authorities to issue health warnings, urging residents to take precautions against heatstroke and dehydration. The Hong Kong Observatory continues to monitor the situation as the typhoon moves further inland.
