POLICY WIRE — Hong Kong — A Hong Kong-based Belgian designer has filed a High Court lawsuit against fashion giant Prada, seeking at least $5 million in damages for the alleged breach of a partnership agreement to redesign a series of Rolls-Royce cars for global exhibitions and events.

In a lawsuit filed on Thursday, Jonathan Riss accused Prada of reneging on both written and verbal agreements to jointly develop a marketing initiative. Riss claims that Hong Kong-listed Prada unilaterally abandoned the project.

Details of the alleged agreements and the circumstances leading to the termination of the partnership haven’t been fully disclosed. However, Riss asserts that the project was intended to significantly boost both brands’ profiles through a series of high-profile exhibitions.

Prada has yet to issue a public statement regarding the lawsuit. The case is ongoing, with further court dates to be announced.
