The incident occurred around 3:00 PM when the boy was reportedly seen entering the water. Eyewitnesses immediately alerted authorities, who arrived within minutes.
London Fire Brigade, Metropolitan Police, — and London Ambulance Service all responded to the emergency call. Despite their efforts, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene.
A Metropolitan Police spokesperson said, “We’re treating this as an unfortunate accident at this stage. Our thoughts are with the boy’s family — and friends during this difficult time.”
The London Fire Brigade also issued a statement, emphasizing the dangers of unsupervised water activities. “This is a tragic reminder of the risks involved when near open water. We urge everyone to stay safe — and avoid such areas without proper supervision.”
The body of water, known as the Millwall Outer Dock, is part of the historic Docklands area in East London. It has seen several incidents in the past, prompting local authorities to increase safety measures.
