POLICY WIRE — Seoul, South Korea — Ahmad Shah Ahmad Ros, a 26-year-old Malaysian factory worker, was tragically killed in the early hours of Sunday in Daeso-eup, Eumseong county, approximately 130 kilometers southeast of Seoul. Ros had spent nearly seven years building a life in South Korea.

According to family reports, Ros died after intervening in a late-night confrontation to help a friend. The incident has prompted an outpouring of community support, with an online fundraiser collecting about 80,000 ringgit (US$19,600) within a day to repatriate his body.

Local police have arrested a Malaysian man in his forties in connection with the incident. Details surrounding the confrontation remain under investigation.
