POLICY WIRE — Singapore — Singapore authorities announced on Monday the arrest of three teenagers in connection with separate plots to carry out shooting, stabbing, and bomb attacks. The Internal Security Department (ISD) warned of the growing threat of “youth radicalisation” in the security-conscious city-state.

The three boys, detained between April and June, were radicalised online and adopted violent extremist ideologies, according to the ISD. They’re being held under the Internal Security Act, which permits detention without trial.

One of the boys had planned a shooting attack targeting police officers — and emergency services personnel. Another intended to carry out a stabbing attack on members of the public. The third boy was plotting a bomb attack, the ISD revealed.

The ISD didn’t disclose further details about the suspects or their specific targets, citing ongoing investigations. Authorities emphasised the importance of vigilance — and community cooperation in combating radicalisation.
