Hernandez arrived on a private flight at Palmerola Airport near the capital Tegucigalpa, where he was greeted by family and supporters, according to Agence France-Presse journalists. “We’re very happy and very excited” to welcome him back, said Eva Amador, a 56-year-old supporter of the former president.

The return of Hernandez, who served as president from 2014 to 2022, has sparked significant political reactions within Honduras. His pardon by Trump, issued in the final days of the former US administration, remains a subject of intense debate and scrutiny.
