The fishing vessel The Northwest Explorer rescued the boy, who was experiencing symptoms of hypothermia. The captain described the teen as “one tough kid” for surviving the ordeal. The Coast Guard launched a search after the family reported the three missing, and a crew spotted the boy before coordinating the rescue.
