The Shanghai-based company posted net income of 11.08 billion yuan (US$1.64 billion), marking a 33.7% increase from the same period last year. This robust performance surpassed market expectations, driven by strong demand for weight-loss and diabetes drugs, as well as gains in its US business.
The interim net profit attributable to the owners of the company advanced by 33.7% to 11.08 billion yuan from a year earlier. This growth surpassed the Bloomberg mean consensus estimate, which was derived from a pool of 25 analysts. The company’s financial results come amid increased scrutiny from US regulators, highlighting the challenges and opportunities within the pharmaceutical research sector.
