Malaysian Foreign Minister Mohamad Hasan confirmed the diplomatic action, stating that Ambassador Muhammad Shahrul Ikram Yaakob had been called to the State Department to discuss the matter. “It has always been Malaysia’s policy. Our immigration policy doesn’t recognise the State of Israel or the Zionist regime,” Hasan said, as reported by state media.

The Malaysian government’s long-standing policy of not recognizing Israel is not a new development, according to the Foreign Minister. This policy extends to the nation’s immigration regulations, which don’t acknowledge Israeli passports or citizenship.
