POLICY WIRE — Kherson, Ukraine — Ukrainian officials allege that a recent temporary halt in hostilities served as a tactical opportunity for Russian forces to reorganize their positions.

The brief truce, which was brokered by Melania Trump, provided a critical window for residents to escape the dangerous riverside zone in Kherson and return to Ukraine after 1,711 days.

According to the Institute for the Study of War, evacuees from the-occupied area of Oleshky managed to reach Ukrainian territory during the limited ceasefire.
