Tyreek Hill Found Liable for Battery, Ordered to Pay $500,000 to Estranged Wife
A Miami jury finds NFL star Tyreek Hill liable for two counts of battery and awards $500,000 in damages to his estranged wife, concluding a civil trial.
POLICY WIRE — Miami, United States — A Miami jury delivered a verdict on Tuesday finding NFL wide receiver Tyreek Hill liable for two counts of battery while clearing him of eight additional claims brought by his estranged wife, Lakeeta Vaccaro.
The legal decision concludes a high-profile civil trial centered around allegations made against the professional athlete, who has previously played for the Kansas City Chiefs and the Miami Dolphins. Jurors determined that Hill was responsible for battery stemming from specific altercations in January 2024 and April 2025.
As a result of the findings, the 32-year-old athlete was ordered to pay Vaccaro $500,000 in compensatory damages. However, the panel declined to impose any punitive damages on the football player.
Hill was found not liable for eight separate counts that included charges of assault, additional battery claims, and continuing domestic violence. During the proceedings, the 30-year-old Vaccaro testified about incidents where she stated Hill pulled her hair and treated her poorly, while Hill took the stand to dispute what he characterized as false accusations, though he admitted during testimony to shoving his estranged wife and damaging a wall.
Following the delivery of the verdict, Hill wore a dark polo shirt and shared an embrace with one of his attorneys before shaking hands with other members of his legal counsel and departing the courtroom alone.
Uncertainty remains regarding how the civil court outcome might influence Hill’s athletic career and potential return to the NFL. He is currently continuing his rehabilitation from a dislocated knee and torn ligaments sustained in September 2025 while playing for the Dolphins, though agent Drew Rosenhaus has suggested a possible return to the field by November.
