POLICY WIRE — Hong Kong, China — At least 12 flights connecting Hong Kong with mainland China, Taiwan, and Japan have been cancelled as Typhoon Dolphin moves away from Japan’s Okinawa prefecture and approaches eastern China.

Travel plans for Hongkongers in Okinawa were partially resumed as local supermarkets and aquariums reopened following the typhoon’s passage. However, an accommodation — and car rental operator reported losses between 500,000 and 1 million yen due to the storm.

The severe weather conditions have significantly impacted both travel schedules — and local businesses. Authorities in affected regions are assessing the full extent of the damage as the typhoon continues its path.
