Trump Offers UFC CEO Dana White Open White House Press Secretary Role
President Trump has offered UFC leader Dana White the White House press secretary position, requesting a team of elite fighters to defend the administration.
POLICY WIRE — Washington, D.C. — President Trump announced Saturday that he extended the offer of White House press secretary to Dana White, the head of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.
In a statement posted on Truth Social, the president expressed his enthusiasm for the move, describing White as a ‘violent fighter and warrior’ who should take the nation’s top communications role.
Trump further noted that he requested White bring a staff team of assistants, naming high-profile fighters including Islam Makhachev, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Justin Gaethje, Daniel Cormier, Amanda Nunes, and Kayla Harris. The president stated these individuals are necessary to protect the administration from the ‘Lunatic Left.’
While it remains unconfirmed if White has accepted the invitation, he recently posted an Instagram story featuring himself at the White House press briefing podium. The image was captioned, ‘On to the next chapter.’
Some media reports suggest the announcement might have been intended as a joke. CBS News has sought comment from both the White House and the UFC regarding the post.
The critical role of press secretary has been unfilled since October 16. That was when Katie Zacharia was removed from the position after serving only five days. Zacharia had been appointed by Trump to replace Karoline Leavitt, who departed the post in August to focus on her family.
The offer follows a significant political shift where Democrats secured control of both the House and Senate in the midterm elections.
As the leader of an organization valued at over $15 billion, White has been a consistent ally of Trump, participating in his inauguration. In July, the White House hosted a UFC event on the South Lawn to celebrate the United States’s 250th anniversary, an occasion that also coincided with Trump’s 80th birthday.
Trump concluded his social media post by urging White to take the job, stating he would be a press secretary unlike any other.
