TomTom Initiates Global Restructuring Affecting 200 Jobs to Drive AI Strategy
Dutch mapping firm TomTom announces a major reorganization impacting 200 roles to boost AI integration and achieve €21 million in annual savings.
POLICY WIRE — Amsterdam, Netherlands — Dutch location technology firm TomTom NV has announced a significant organizational realignment, a move that will impact approximately 200 positions across its global operations.
The company aims to secure €21 million in annualized savings through this restructuring. The initiative is designed to support a product-led strategy that prioritizes the integration of artificial intelligence and the implementation of a more scalable framework for product delivery.
The workforce reductions will primarily impact staff within the route planner development, sales, and customer service departments. TomTom indicated that these specific roles are being phased out as the company shifts toward AI-driven processes to streamline its internal operations.
Despite experiencing a decline in revenue, the company reported a stronger-than-anticipated financial performance for the first quarter of 2026. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) reached 13.8 million euros ($16.3 million), significantly outpacing the average analyst estimate of 7 million euros.
Management attributed the improved operating profit to margin growth and the reduction of expenses following the internal reorganization. The company’s current market valuation is now tied to its ability to prove that this new trajectory will sustain long-term growth.
