Tech Founder’s Viral Message on Family Surfaces After Fatal Florida Plane Crash Claims His Life
A moving post by entrepreneur Adam Robinson goes viral after he and his family perish in a tragic Learjet crash near Cresthaven, Florida.
POLICY WIRE — Cresthaven, Florida — A poignant social media reflection on the importance of family has gained widespread attention following the tragic death of a tech entrepreneur and his family in a local aviation accident.
Adam Robinson, 45, the founder of the startup Retention, was killed Sunday when a Learjet 60 went down in Cresthaven, an area located approximately nine miles from the Mar-a-Lago resort.
The victims included Robinson’s wife, Helen Sharp, and their two children, four-year-old Emma and two-year-old Charlie. Also traveling were the children’s nanny, Anita Maria Cetina, and another couple, Rachael Reed and Charmi Fehr.
In a post shared on X back in April, Robinson reflected on his shift in priorities since spending his early twenties working on Wall Street. He noted that while peers in their 40s often worked 70 to 90 hour weeks to provide for their families, those families actually craved their physical presence.
Robinson wrote that he did not understand why families resented such long work hours despite having access to homes and private schooling. He decided early in his career as a founder that he would not follow that same path.
The entrepreneur described his habit of closing his laptop and ending work-related conversations every evening, often leaving the office between 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. He stated that his family life provided the energy for his career, while his work fueled his life at home.
Witnesses documented the crash as it occurred over the weekend. Florida Governor Ron DeSantis visited the scene and described the event as cataclysmic, noting that the aircraft resembled a falling missile that left a large crater on the roadway.
DeSantis confirmed there were no immediate reports of injuries or fatalities on the ground following the impact.
Data from LiveATC.com indicates the pilot reported ice accumulation on the wings and an external temperature of -47 degrees Celsius. The aircraft also encountered turbulence that caused it to drop roughly 700 feet.
The flight had taken off from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas with a destination of the Bahamas. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy stated that the Federal Aviation Administration is currently assisting the National Transportation Safety Board with the investigation.
Audio recordings captured by news outlets reveal the co-pilot, Nathalia Gadelha Filgueiras, sending distress signals as the plane plummeted. She reported rapid descents of 8,000, 10,000, and 20,000 feet per minute in an overspeed condition before stating they had run out of time.
The pilot was identified as Jeff Gregory.
