Suspect Pleads Guilty to Wounding in Huntingdon Train Stabbing Spree
Anthony Williams admits to wounding 10 people on an LNER train. He remains set for trial on attempted murder charges following the 2025 Cambridgeshire attack.
POLICY WIRE — Cambridge, United Kingdom — A man accused of a mass stabbing incident on a London-bound LNER train has entered guilty pleas to multiple counts of wounding with intent. Despite these admissions, the defendant still faces a forthcoming trial regarding more severe charges of attempted murder.
Anthony Williams, 33, of Langford Road in Peterborough, appeared via video-link at Cambridge Crown Court on Monday morning. The proceedings follow a violent episode that occurred on November 1 of last year on a service traveling between Doncaster and London’s King’s Cross.
Williams was initially arrested in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire, following the incident. While he has now admitted to 10 counts of wounding with intent, he had previously entered not guilty pleas to a total of 21 charges, which included 14 counts of attempted murder.
The legal case has also expanded to include additional offenses allegedly committed by Williams in the hours leading up to the train attack. Furthermore, the investigation has faced scrutiny, with one individual who was previously arrested and released without charge alleging that police actions were influenced by racial bias.
