Sponsors Abandon ‘I’ve Had It’ Podcast Following Dark Joke About Charlie Kirk
Major sponsors cut ties with the 'I’ve Had It' podcast after hosts laughed at a joke regarding the assassination of conservative influencer Charlie Kirk.
POLICY WIRE — New York, USA — A prominent progressive-leaning podcast is facing a mass exodus of advertisers after an episode where the hosts laughed at a joke concerning the death of influential conservative figure Charlie Kirk.
Hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan, creators of ‘I’ve Had It,’ were reviewing social media reactions to Tuesday’s midterm election results during their Thursday broadcast. The elections saw Democrats secure control of both the House and Senate along with several high-profile gubernatorial victories.
During the segment, both women reacted humor to a post that suggested digging up Kirk to perform the act again. While the duo has since removed the clip from the recording and issued an apology for their ‘insensitive’ behavior, the professional fallout has been immediate.
The payment platform Cash App withdrew its support after a social media user urged followers to boycott the service for funding what he described as rotten women. In response, Cash App stated on X that it does not condone any form of violence and has terminated its sponsorship of the program.
The pet retailer Chewy confirmed on Saturday that it maintains no relationship with the podcast. The company noted on X that it unequivocally condemns all types of violence, asserting that the hosts’ comments do not align with their corporate values or mission.
Eyewear manufacturer Zenni also announced it canceled its advertising on the show citing brand safety standards. The brand indicated it is currently auditing all of its podcast media placements to ensure they meet their internal requirements.
The bedding company Boll & Branch stated it does not currently fund the show and does not anticipate doing so in the future. Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was killed at the age of 31 during a campus event in Utah in September 2025.
