POLICY WIRE — Toronto, Canada — Shots were fired near the US consulate in Toronto early Monday, according to Canadian police. This marks the second shooting incident near the diplomatic compound in four months. No injuries have been reported.

An officer stationed at the consulate heard a gunshot at approximately 4:45 AM, Toronto’s deputy police chief Frank Barredo told reporters. A bullet struck the consulate’s facade.

Toronto police reported that a white car with no license plates was seen fleeing the scene. The vehicle’s description has been circulated to all units for identification.

In the previous incident four months ago, similar circumstances were reported with no injuries. Authorities are investigating whether the two incidents are connected.

The US consulate has increased security measures following the first shooting, but details of these measures haven’t been disclosed to the public.

Toronto police are urging anyone with information about the incidents to come forward. The investigation is ongoing.
