Russian missiles hit Kyiv, killing two and damaging a power plant. Zelenskiy claims no warning from Western allies before attack.
POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — Russian ballistic missiles struck the Ukrainian capital late Tuesday, resulting in at least two fatalities and injuring 21 individuals, including a child. The attacks targeted critical infrastructure, such as a thermal power plant and a high-rise apartment building, marking the second consecutive night of assaults on civilian sites.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy confirmed that his government received no prior notification from Western allies regarding the missile strikes. Officials reported that five missiles hit Kyiv, with one impacting the CHP-4 power plant and another striking an apartment complex in the Fastiv district. At least one person was killed in the latter location, while multiple others were injured.
Zelenskiy also highlighted that the attacks extended beyond Kyiv, with 19 regions across Ukraine coming under fire over the past two days. In addition to the casualties in Kyiv, four people were killed and 41 injured in Kharkiv, according to reports. The strikes have intensified concerns over the safety of civilian infrastructure amid ongoing conflict.
