POLICY WIRE — Kyiv, Ukraine — Moscow has officially confirmed that peace negotiations between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States will resume shortly. The two-sided talks are scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi early next week, marking a significant escalation in diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict.
Vladimir Medinsky, a close aide to President Vladimir Putin, will serve as Moscow’s primary negotiator during these sessions, according to Tuesday’s confirmation. The Abu Dhabi discussions are slated for November 10 and 11, bringing all three parties together under the U.S. mediation.
Simultaneously, First Lady Melania Trump is preparing to facilitate a separate diplomatic track at the White House. According to a White House statement, she will convene Russian and Ukrainian representatives to discuss establishing a localized ceasefire in the Kherson region.
Both Kyiv and Moscow have recently indicated a willingness to engage in U.S.-brokered dialogue. They have also expressed support for a humanitarian initiative led by the First Lady. However, fundamental disputes regarding territorial control and long-term security guarantees have resurfaced, highlighting the substantial barriers to achieving a lasting peace agreement.
