Ron DeSantis Keeps Door Open for 2028 Presidential Bid, Hasn’t Decided Yet
Ron DeSantis keeps his 2028 presidential ambitions open, citing Florida's midterm win and a 'good story to tell,' but hasn't finalized plans.
POLICY WIRE — Tallahassee, United States — Florida Governor Ron DeSantis told CNN that he would be a “free man after Jan. 5” as his two terms draw to a close, yet he has not yet made a final decision on a 2028 presidential run.
Sources familiar with the governor’s thinking told the Washington Post that DeSantis is keeping his options open for another White House bid, following Florida’s successful defense against a blue wave in this year’s midterm elections.
In a statement, DeSantis said he would have a “good story to tell” if he were to pursue the presidency, noting his term limits will end in 2028 and that he could still shape the national conversation from the state’s capital.
