Poland Accuses Russia of Sabotaging Starlink Infrastructure
Poland blames Russia for arson attack on Starlink station, with two Turkish citizens arrested. Details emerge about the sabotage and its implications.
POLICY WIRE — Warsaw, Poland — Polish authorities have accused Russian intelligence services of orchestrating an arson attack on a Starlink satellite station in September, with two Turkish nationals arrested in connection to the incident.
The suspects were detained in Germany and are alleged to have deliberately set fire to Starlink infrastructure located in Wola Krobowska, approximately 25 miles south of Warsaw, on September 23. Polish officials have stated that they are confident in the involvement of Russian intelligence services, which have increasingly been using individuals linked to the criminal underworld to carry out such acts.
Poland’s minister overseeing intelligence services, Tomasz Siemoniak, called the attack an act of hybrid warfare, highlighting the ongoing efforts by Russia to undermine support for Ukraine and create fear across European societies. This incident is part of a broader pattern of suspected sabotage attributed to Russia since the invasion of Ukraine in 2022.
