Pennsylvania Shooting Leaves 9 Dead, Family Calls Gunman ‘Patriarch’

POLICY WIRE — Erie, United States — A mass shooting in Erie, Pennsylvania, has left nine people dead, including the suspected shooter. The incident occurred on Friday evening, with authorities confirming that the gunman took his own life after killing multiple family members and a friend.
Julius Windham, whose 1-year-old daughter was among the victims, described the shooter as a grandfather who never appeared troubled or out of the ordinary. He said the man had a “front” for his actions, adding that it was hard to believe such a tragedy could unfold.
Police have not released the shooter’s name, but Erie Police Chief Rick Lorah confirmed he was related to seven of the victims. The eighth victim was a friend of a pregnant woman who was also killed. Authorities have not disclosed the names of the deceased, citing respect for the families.
