Oregon City Roommate Claims Ignorance Over Kidnapping of 10-Year-Old in Shared Home
An Oregon City roommate claims he was unaware a 10-year-old was held captive in his home when police stormed the residence following a violent kidnapping.
POLICY WIRE — Oregon City, Oregon — A man who lived with the suspect accused of kidnapping a ten-year-old girl says he was completely unaware of the crime when police raided the residence on Wednesday afternoon.
The roommate, who had shared the home with Vince Williams for approximately four months, told reporters he was in the shower when law enforcement forced their entry into the house.
According to the roommate, he had returned home from his shift driving a garbage truck at approximately 1:40 p.m. He intended to wash off the grime before taking his wife out to celebrate her birthday.
The man described hearing a sound like an explosion that shook the house, followed immediately by the arrival of the police.
Authorities reported that the victim, a young girl from Canby, was discovered alive inside the apartment more than 12 hours after her abduction. She was reportedly found tied up inside a closet.
The investigation involves allegations of a violent sexual assault and an attack on the girl’s sister using a hammer during the incident.
Speaking while off-camera, the roommate expressed deep distress over the nature of the evidence seized at the property and the realization that a child had been held captive in his living space.
Williams is currently being held without bail as he faces these charges.
