New Study Reveals Physical Distance Could Boost Intimacy for Married Couples
A new report reveals that physical absence may strengthen sex drive, with married couples reporting higher satisfaction and frequency than single individuals.
POLICY WIRE — New York, USA — A recent investigation suggests that physical separation might actually serve as a catalyst for maintaining sexual intimacy within long-term relationships.
Data collected by the wellness brand Lovehoney, which surveyed 2,500 Americans, explored the intersection of personal desire, encounter frequency, and levels of satisfaction among couples.
The results highlight a broader trend of sexual decline across the country, with more than half of the U.S. population—roughly 55 percent—admitting they engage in sexual activity less frequently than they ideally prefer.
Despite these challenges, the Hims & Hers 2026 Sex Report, which tracked 2,000 individuals aged 18 to 60, found some optimistic statistics regarding marital dynamics.
The report indicates that married individuals are sexually active nearly twice as often as those who are single, averaging an encounter of approximately nine times per month.
Furthermore, 63 percent of married respondents reported that their sexual connection has actually improved over time as they have grown older.
