Missing Ballot Memory Card Found in Seminole County Shifts Georgia State House Race Results
Georgia Secretary of State launches investigation after a found memory card with 388 uncounted ballots alters the outcome of State House District 154 race.
POLICY WIRE — Seminole County, GA — A post-election audit in Georgia has uncovered a lost memory card containing hundreds of voter ballots that were never included in the initial tally.
The Georgia Secretary of State’s Office reported that a routine check identified a discrepancy showing that roughly 388 more individuals had checked into polling stations on Election Day than the number of ballots recorded as cast.
Upon receiving notification of the mismatch from state officials, the Seminole County Board of Elections discovered that a specific memory card containing results had failed to upload to the local election management software.
The inclusion of these previously missing votes has fundamentally altered the landscape of the race for State House District 154.
Before the data was processed, the Republican incumbent was trailing his opponent by 58 votes. After the missing ballots were counted, that same incumbent now leads the race by 262 votes.
