POLICY WIRE — Minneapolis, MN — Mike Lindell, the MyPillow CEO endorsed by former President Donald Trump, has missed the deadline to demand a recount after losing the Minnesota gubernatorial GOP primary to Lisa Demuth by approximately 45,000 votes.
Lindell, who gained notoriety for his claims of widespread election fraud in the 2020 presidential election, faced a significant defeat in the primary held on August 9. Despite his vow to challenge the results, he failed to submit the necessary paperwork by the August 16 deadline to request a recount.
“We had a great campaign, and we’re disappointed with the results,” Lindell stated in a press release. “However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we were unable to meet the deadline for a recount.”
Lisa Demuth, who secured the GOP nomination, expressed confidence in the election process. “The results speak for themselves,” she said. “I am honored to have won the primary and look forward to the general election.”
The Minnesota Secretary of State’s office confirmed that no recount request was filed by the deadline. The office emphasized the importance of adhering to election timelines to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.
