Met Police Officer Raped by David Carrick Demands Commissioner’s Resignation
Detective Constable Linda Williams calls for Met Police chief Sir Mark Rowley to resign following her rape by serial predator David Carrick.
POLICY WIRE — London, United Kingdom — A serving detective who suffered a brutal rape at the hands of serial predator and former colleague David Carrick has publicly demanded the resignation of Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley.
Detective Constable Linda Williams, 60, chose to waive her right to anonymity to voice her condemnation of the force’s leadership. She described the experience of navigating the aftermath of her 2004 assault by Carrick as being like being raped again by the institution.
The call for leadership change follows a significant legal development in which Williams received a six-figure settlement from the Metropolitan Police. The payout concludes a long-standing grievance regarding the force’s handling of her case.
David Carrick, 51, previously served as an armed officer within the Metropolitan Police. He was sentenced to prison in 2023 after being convicted of a series of sexual offenses committed against 12 different women.
