Dominique Pelicot, now in his 60s and originally from Stockport in northern England, faces multiple charges including rape, sexual assault, and drug-related offenses. He was previously sentenced to 20 years in prison after being found guilty of orchestrating the abuse of his then-wife at their home in southern France.

The case has drawn international attention due to the scale of the alleged crimes, with more than 50 men reportedly involved. An Austrian woman, who was allegedly targeted in a similar manner, died from injuries sustained during the abuse, adding to the gravity of the situation.
